How To Go About Choosing An Abdominal Exercise Machine

There was a time when my sister had unbelievable abs because she was careful about what she ate, restricted her fat intake and did numerous ab crunches daily and, though it was hard work, it was well worth the effort. However all of this changed after she gave birth to her daughter when she abruptly went very soft around the middle, developed prominent love handles, and could not get rid of the flab no matter how many diets she went on.

As if that was not bad enough she found that she was not able to do her ab crunches anymore because she was suffering from severe chronic back pain. She was not prepared however to live with being out of shape and so she resolved that it was time to check out a variety of abdominal exercise machines.

Abdominal exercise machines are designed specifically to concentrate on the abs during a workout and the vast majority of machines copy normal crunches although they are far easier on your body. For example, virtually everybody does crunches while lying flat on the floor with their hands behind their head putting them at risk for back and neck injuries. This is not however a risk with abdominal exercise machines since they restrict your motion and make you maintain a good posture in order to work with the machine. As a result abdominal exercise machines are more or less foolproof and give the rest of the body a break while you are concentrating on your abs.

My sister had seen many late-night TV advertisements for abdominal exercisers but was not ready to purchase one solely on the basis of what she had heard on TV. She had no wish to hear what actors and professional bodybuilders were paid to say but wanted to hear what real people had to say about these machines from their own personal experience.

So she looked online and found a number of consumer reviews for some of the best known abdominal exercisers. She wanted to find out which of the machines were well-constructed, simple to use, and actually worked on sculpting the abs and which machines would just be a waste of her time and money. Also, she wanted to find websites from which she could purchase the more popular abdominal exercise machines at the lowest prices because these machines are expensive and any discount that she could find would be helpful.

One thing that she did say to me was that she was pleased that she had read the online reviews as one of the machines that she had been thinking about buying was not at all well received by those who reviewed it. It turns out that the machine in question has a couple of substantial problems that she would not have discovered in advance of purchasing it. As a result she bought a machine that was quite a way down her list of possibilities but which had nonetheless received enthusiastic reviews.

The good news is that now that she has purchased her machine she is able to work on her abs three or four times each week without experiencing the back pain that she had previously experienced without it. Most importantly, she is now beginning to witness a reduction in her waist line and should shortly be back in shape once more and feeling very much like her old self.
