4 New Types of Ab Exercise Machines

One of the exciting aspects of working out is that ab exercise machines found in local fitness centers and gyms are always changing. Today, machines have been designed and developed based on a variety of factors such as new technology, better materials and even consumer input. Therefore, we wanted to provide information about some of the latest ab exercise machines now being used.

o Powertec Fitness P-AB Ab Bench Plus - This is one of the newer types of exercise machines now being used in gyms, which takes older style of sit ups and crunches and redefines them. Because of the design, the bench features a leg bar that makes it possible for people to perform effective sit ups, which targets the middle and upper abdominal muscles. In addition, the machine has a headrest and handlebar so elevated reverse crunches can be performed, focusing on hip flexor and lower abdominal muscles.

o Double Wheel - Another one of the newer exercise machines is the Double Wheel Abdominal Exercise Equipment, which has helped many people because of the revolutionary design that eliminates the need to balance. Instead, the individual simply rolls a bar that features wheels on either side to get a deep workout for the inside oblique and rectus abdominis muscles.

o Easy Shaper - Today, more and more women want to achieve the same muscle definition that men have or close to it. Because of this, the Easy Shaper is one of the newest ab exercise machines just for women so they too can enjoy a tight and toned stomach. The design of this machine makes it possible for women to use the exact amount of resistance needed to achieve the desired goal. In addition to being great for the abdominal muscles, this equipment also works great for the inside and outside thigh muscles.

o Perfect Pull-Up Ab Straps - Probably one of the most innovative of all new exercise machines is this one. The machine is heavy-duty and built to last. Straps are used to support the individuals body weight by cradling the arms. With this unique approach, the person only needs to focus on the abdominal muscle group wanting to target.

Some people still believe the best way to achieve tight, toned, and defined abdominal muscles is by using free weights, traditional crunches and sit ups but this mindset is often due to disappointment in machines available for gym or home use. However, with so many great ab exercise machines now being designed, people are realizing that equipment is now more effective than ever before, often more effective than traditional exercises.

For anyone, whether male or female, old or young, to build stronger abdominal muscles, it would be worth the time and effort to look at all of the ab exercise machines on the market. Most people who have not looked at equipment for some time are surprised at the different it is from even two or three years ago. Most people today take fitness and health very serious and in response to consumer demand, companies that make these exercise machines have stepped up to provide exactly what the public wants.

Things You Should Know Before Buying a Vibration Exercise Machine

It is often believed that vibrating technology is one the recent inventions of our times. But the concept of vibrating exercise machine was not under wraps in the ancient times. Greeks made use of vibrating technology to fasten the healing process for injuries. This concept was first used by a Russian scientist named Vladimir Nazarov. The process was called as "biochemical stimulation" by Nazrov.

It is observed that this technology is quite effective in maintaining a healthy body. There are an increasing number of athletes and celebrities who are using this machine. As with every passing day, this machine is becoming a part of our lifestyle, it is very important that you know how it works.

How the Machine Works

It is observed that the machine consists of a platform. This machine could be a standing or sitting one. The machine vibrates as you exercise. This machine supposedly helps to burn additional calories. This machine also helps in toning the body muscles. Whenever you start working on this machine, the muscles react naturally to the vibrations. The reaction tenses up slightly and then stabilizes the body. There are different types of vibrating machines available in the market nowadays-

Oscillating-It is possible to have natural type of vibration i.e. side-by-side.

Tri-planer- If you are interested in having vertical and horizontal vibrations, then this is considered as the best choice. The platform remains at a particular angle in this vibrating machine.

Horizontal- This is used only to have horizontal vibrations. This is also the least expensive of all.

Usually, the vibrating machine consist of features such as digital screen, a pad and a hand-held on-and-off switch.

Things to know before you buy-

- It is very important that you know the type of vibration mechanism the machine uses for its functioning.

- It is very vital that you are fully aware about the specifications of the machine.

- One should test the equipment before they buy it.

- Before you buy the equipment, you should ensure that you try out few exercises on the machine. This helps you decide that whether the machine you are planning to buy gives you the perfect balance you require.

- Before you purchase the equipment, listen carefully to the noise which is generated by the machine.

- Ensure that you are well aware about the life of the motor that will be supporting the vibrating machine.

Most importantly how to use it-

- Every buyer has the right to check the machine till the time they aren't fully satisfied.

- One can easily adjust the timings as per their wish along with amplitude (depth of the plate) and frequency (number of vibrations per second).

- You must know about your figure position on the machine. It is extremely essential that you have the right alignment for yourself.

- You can work on your upper, middle and lower body parts. It is also possible to do for other body-parts by adjusting the straps.

It is always advised that you follow the recommended usage pattern otherwise you may face the problem of back pain and blurred image. Even cartilage damage can take place.

Stepper Exercise Machine

The stepper exercise machine can be one of the best cardio workouts you can get with any exercise machine - period! The stair stepper (as its otherwise known as) is based on the very intense exercise mode of climbing stairs. The workout is intense, and climbing stairs works the big muscles in your legs and buttocks, requiring that your heart pump a lot of blood, and in turn giving your complete cardiovascular system a supreme workout.

Unlike some other exercise machines such as a treadmill or an elliptical trainer, the stepper exercise machine offers no possibility to take a rest during an exercise routine. Sure, you can slow the machine down a bit, but you're still hauling your body up a level with each step, so the possibility to slack during a workout is practically nil. Only the toughest, most dedicated exercisers use a stepper exercise machine as their primary exercise machine. But, the benefits are huge if you can make this part of your exercise routine.

The stepper exercise machine can be one of the best home units you can buy. It can be small in size and the home units can offer some form of portability, compared to the home versions of treadmills and elliptical trainers. Of course you can find lightweight renditions of these big home machines, but they can be cheaply made, lightweight versions of the real thing.

And we know that cheaply made just doesn't cut it when shopping for quality and durability. The cheap, lightweight treadmills and elliptical trainers don't last long compared to the stair stepper which can be lightweight in construction due to its small size and have quality construction as well.

You can store a home version stepper exercise machine in your home - the stair stepper doesn't have a big "footprint." Since it's fairly lightweight in construction, the stair stepper machine can be moved around with your home with relative ease - meaning you probably won't be getting a hernia while moving it from the closet to the workout room!

And, the stair stepper machine is not expensive to buy compared to those other units mentioned earlier. I don't have to spend much time telling you that spending less money is a good thing! On the other hand, when I spend money, I want to be sure I'm buying quality. When you shop for anything, be it jewelry, home appliances or home exercise equipment, don't look for the absolute cheapest item. Make sure you are getting a good value for your money!

My advice? Spend time shopping for a stepper exercise machine, test exercise each machine that you're considering buying and once you have it in your home, make sure you exercise every day!

1. The main ab exerciser machine.
2. A professional meal plan and recipes.
3. Work out DVD's and cardio Fat busting program.
4. Machine manual and instruction guide.
5. The machine should workout the intended body region and gives a cardio workout at the same time.

B. Buy an exercise ab machine that works for your body...
1. If you have a sore or weak back, then look for an ab exerciser that will provide back and neck support.
2. If you are just getting started in working out, maybe look for a machine that has simpler movements.
3. Do you want a machine that will work more than your abs, one that may also work your buns, legs and arms?

C. What is the ab machine made of and how heavy is it...
1. Most ab exercisers are made from commercial grade steel and high quality plastics so it will last long term.
2. Does it fold or collapse down for easy storage under the bed, hung on a wall or stored in the corner?
3. Is it easy to move and not heavy to lift; remember the workout does not include moving and setting up the ab equipment.

Things that you need to do before starting the exercise program...

1. Decide which machine is best for you and order it. Remember it may take a few weeks to receive the package but there are things you can do while you wait.

d. Begin by doing daily stretching and a form of exercise such as brisk walking, skipping, jumping jacks or running in place. This will get your body use to working out and your heart rate up in progression.

5. What to expect once you start using the abs exercise machine...

a. The workouts will be hard and you need commit that this is a long term solution and not a quick short term fix.
b. For your body to be more tired at night, but you will find that you sleep like a baby every night.
c. To hit a brick wall (not literally), there will be times that you just want to give up and quit. Tell yourself every day when you wake up that you deserve to feel good, look good and feel confident with your body so quitting is not an option.
d. Not expect to see results until the 3rd or 4th week. This really depends on how determined you are in the exercises and how dedicated you are to the new lifestyle change surrounding your food and beverage selections.
e. The results seen initially may not appear in major fat loss but in positive attitude, confidence, mental and physical well being. Do not worry, the major fat loss will come, just get push past the brick wall.

Remember, you want to make a lifestyle change that will remain with you for the long term. This means that there will be a need of commitment and consistency in the workouts. Always tell yourself why you deserve to fell good, look good and portray yourself with complete confidence, this should be your main reasons to embark in a positive lifestyle change. How To Go About Choosing An Abdominal Exercise Machine

There was a time when my sister had unbelievable abs because she was careful about what she ate, restricted her fat intake and did numerous ab crunches daily and, though it was hard work, it was well worth the effort. However all of this changed after she gave birth to her daughter when she abruptly went very soft around the middle, developed prominent love handles, and could not get rid of the flab no matter how many diets she went on.

As if that was not bad enough she found that she was not able to do her ab crunches anymore because she was suffering from severe chronic back pain. She was not prepared however to live with being out of shape and so she resolved that it was time to check out a variety of abdominal exercise machines.

Abdominal exercise machines are designed specifically to concentrate on the abs during a workout and the vast majority of machines copy normal crunches although they are far easier on your body. For example, virtually everybody does crunches while lying flat on the floor with their hands behind their head putting them at risk for back and neck injuries. This is not however a risk with abdominal exercise machines since they restrict your motion and make you maintain a good posture in order to work with the machine. As a result abdominal exercise machines are more or less foolproof and give the rest of the body a break while you are concentrating on your abs.

My sister had seen many late-night TV advertisements for abdominal exercisers but was not ready to purchase one solely on the basis of what she had heard on TV. She had no wish to hear what actors and professional bodybuilders were paid to say but wanted to hear what real people had to say about these machines from their own personal experience.

So she looked online and found a number of consumer reviews for some of the best known abdominal exercisers. She wanted to find out which of the machines were well-constructed, simple to use, and actually worked on sculpting the abs and which machines would just be a waste of her time and money. Also, she wanted to find websites from which she could purchase the more popular abdominal exercise machines at the lowest prices because these machines are expensive and any discount that she could find would be helpful.

One thing that she did say to me was that she was pleased that she had read the online reviews as one of the machines that she had been thinking about buying was not at all well received by those who reviewed it. It turns out that the machine in question has a couple of substantial problems that she would not have discovered in advance of purchasing it. As a result she bought a machine that was quite a way down her list of possibilities but which had nonetheless received enthusiastic reviews.

The good news is that now that she has purchased her machine she is able to work on her abs three or four times each week without experiencing the back pain that she had previously experienced without it. Most importantly, she is now beginning to witness a reduction in her waist line and should shortly be back in shape once more and feeling very much like her old self.

Choose the Correct Exercise Machine

Information abounds that, with a little research, will help you to choose the correct exercise machine. Starting an exercise program is hard enough in itself, but add to that the myriad of choices in exercise machines and it becomes a very daunting task. You first must decide what your main objective is for exercising. Is it to lose weight, to feel better about yourself, to get healthier, or - in the extreme - build bigger muscles than those bronzed, buff bodies on the beach? Deciding on the reason can make your exercise machine choices very simple!

If you need to build your cardiovascular system effectively, but with the least amount of stress on your knees and ankles, the best choice would be a stationary bicycle. You can pedal to your favorite tunes or TV show in the privacy of your own house, and burn about 100 calories for every 4 miles pedaled. It can be done at anytime, and for beginners is the best way to start getting the blood pumping. Just make sure that you have an experienced mentor or trainer to help you with adjustment of your bicycle. If the seat is not just right you could run the risk of knee strain, or not get the full benefit of the workout if your seat's too low!

The second choice for beginners wanting a cardio workout would be the handy treadmill. Burning about 100 calories an hour, it can also be an exercise you can manage while doing other things. Most of the better ones will incline to keep pace with your ever-increasing ability to work out! This machine is better left alone if you have any knee or foot problems as the stress is much greater on them than regular, easy walking would be.

Elliptical machines and stair steppers are not quite as hard on the knees and feet since they remain in contact during exercise, minimizing the stress related complications of the treadmill. However, they are built to resemble stairs, and since we all know how difficult these can be to sustain for any length of time, so will the stair steppers. The best rule of thumb is to start slowly, and build up gradually. Most of these machines have tension knobs that can also increase your workout once you get adjusted. They still carry a high calorie burn as well, so they are effective at helping with weight loss. The best bet is to hold off on the arm exercising until your balance and confidence match your determination to succeed at this type of exercise.

Weight lifting machines are better left for the gyms and professional workout rooms. It is very easy to sustain an injury unless trained on the proper use of the weights and have adequate assistance while using these types of machines. They can be used at a later date for the body perfecting touch after the other machines have done their jobs of getting to a healthier you!

The rowing machine is perhaps one of the better ways to exercise your entire body at once. The rowing technique, if done properly, can use the most of your muscle groups. Since it builds muscle as it burns calories, it will be a more effective way of keeping weight loss more permanent. Muscle burns fat much more effectively than dieting alone, so the more muscle you build, the better your weight loss strategy will become! This is a difficult exercise machine for beginners, since you have to be flexible and be comfortable in order to do the exercise correctly. Coordination is very important to this process also, since you are using most of the muscles in your body in tandem. It can be used after you have become leaner and healthier to help you remain on the right path.

Always remember to check with your doctor before starting any exercise program. Make the decision to get healthier and more fit, and make a plan that you will be able to stick with for the long term. You will be a much happier, more confident individual. It will be much easier and will last a lot longer if you choose the correct exercise machine!

Why Would I Want To Add A Pilates Exercise Machine To My Routine?

So you've decided to incorporate a Pilate Exercise machine into your Pilates routine but have no idea where to start, then this article was written with you in mind. In this article I will be discussing the different kinds of Pilates exercise machines on the market, the benefits of these Pilates exercise machines and what you can expect to achieve by using them.

I have decided to begin with the most basic of Pilates exercise machines, the mat. While some might not consider the mat to be included on the list of Pilates exercise machines, I felt it was important to add it due to the fact that it is the base of your floor exercises. Do you need a floor mat to practise Pilates? We'll you could still practice Pilates without one but the fact is these mats are probably the least expensive on the list of Pilates exercise machines. Another reason to include the Pilates floor mat is that a lot of Pilates exercises focus on your internal core so you'll be on the ground a lot and it just makes sense to be on a mat rather than on the floor. The mat itself is not used for any other purpose other than to give you a cushion between you and the floor. Coming from a person with lower back pain I truly believe the mat is essential.

The Pilates exercise ball is such a simplistic Pilates exercise machine, however the benefits of incorporating a Pilates exercise ball into your routine should not be overlooked. The Pilates exercise ball is used to strengthen your core as well as improve your balance. This balancing "act" so to say forces your body to use its core muscle group known as your powerhouse to keep it from falling off the ball.

The Pilates Cadillac is an invention created by the originator of Pilates, Joseph Pilates. The Pilates Cadillac may look like a medieval torture table but fear not this machine was designed with bedridden patients of the Second World War in mind. Originally created using bedsprings the Cadillac was designed to allow the patient to begin rehabilitation without leaving the bed. Through time the Pilates Cadillac has evolved into a state of the art piece of exercise equipment, which lists an impressive 80 exercises that can be performed ranging from simple spring assisted to very advanced exercises, which would appear almost trapeze like.

A user of the Reformer should expect to achieve an increase in torso stability as well as an improvement in posture. The Reformer looks very similar to a rowing machine but is so much more than that. The Reformer has a gliding platform the participant can sit, kneel or lie down on while you push or pull yourself using the bar located at the end of the machine. The Reformer also has adjustable springs, which can be set to a variety of resistances to focus on gently working your muscles. This particular piece of equipment is a no-impact machine, which is very easy on the body's joints.

The Wunda Chair is another piece of Pilates equipment. While it may look like a snazzy stool the exercises performed on this chair are not only performed in the seated position. The Wunda Chair like most Pilates exercise machines uses adjustable springs, which can be set to a variety of resistances.

The design of the Ladder Barrel is pretty much described by the name itself. It is a ladder attached to a raised barrel, which is set on a sliding base. The Ladder Barrel focuses on strengthening and stretching deep postural muscles.

The Pilates Magic Circle, also known as a Magic or Exercise Ring or Fitness Circle is an exercise device usually constructed of rubber or a flexible type of metal. The Magic Circle is used in a multitude of ways and positions. The participant can use it in a sitting, standing or even a lying down position focusing on problem areas such the inner and outer thighs, your upper arms and chest as well as the muscles in your pelvic area.

Will your body benefit from incorporating one or more of the above-mentioned Pilates exercise machines into your routine? Most definitely, however it must be noted that it is not necessary to purchase any of them to begin a Pilates routine. As you advance in skill level and experience you may want to add a different dimension to your routine and adding one or more Pilates exercise machines may be just the answer you've been searching for.

Elliptical exercise machines have become quite popular since their introduction fifteen years ago. Not quite as popular as treadmills and exercise bikes, elliptical machines have nevertheless been set up in thousands of commercial gyms and millions of home gyms across the country. We will discuss the reasons for their popularity in this article so that you can decide for yourself if an elliptical trainer is the right machine for you to accomplish your workout goals.

Elliptical Workouts vs. Using a Treadmill

Elliptical exercise machines are great for anyone who has experienced joint fatigue while using a treadmill. Treadmills give you a great cardio workout, but they can be hard on the knees and ankles. The elliptical trainer is designed to provide low-impact cardiovascular exercises while protecting your joints from wear and tear. Seniors in particular will find elliptical workouts a lot easier than using a treadmill.

Working out on a quality built elliptical trainer feels like gliding on air. There is no "jerkiness" that you might experience with other types of home fitness equipment. The smooth pace provides a comfort level that will makes working out on elliptical exercise machines virtually effortless.

You can choose from a large selection of affordable elliptical machines from manufacturers such as Fitness Quest, makers of the popular $400 Eclipse 1100 HR, rated one of the best budget trainers for 2006. Another good choice in the $1500 range is the Smooth CE elliptical trainer from Smooth Fitness, known to run virtually problem free and extremely comfortable.

Features to Look For

Although the price is probably the top consideration when shopping for an elliptical trainer, don't forget to compare the various features that are essential for a top performing machine. A beginner's exercise machine won't have as many workout programs and resistance levels as a more advanced design. Decide on a budget and then compare features to find the best model for your needs.

Stride Length

Stride length is a very important feature you must compare when shopping for an elliptical trainer. If you are a tall individual and the stride length is too short, your comfort level will suffer and you won't get an effective workout. Some elliptical exercise machines such as the Smooth CE from Smooth Fitness features adjustable foot pedals that adjust the stride to the user's height.

Upper Body Workouts

Most elliptical machines these days come with upper body handles giving the user a total body workout. Upper body handles that work independently from the foot pedals are preferred to upper body handle bars that are synchronized with the trainer's foot pedals.

Resistance

Don't settle for a trainer where you have to adjust the resistance manually while exercising. Even basic trainers in the $180 - $500 range come with magnetic resistance. Magnetic resistance elliptical machines have fewer moving parts and so fewer break-downs.

Fly Wheel

As a rule of thumb, the larger the fly wheel, the better the performance. Get a covered fly wheel if keeping the noise down to a minimum is important to you. The shroud muffles the sound if you have thin walls or exercise late at night on your elliptical machine. A fly wheel shroud is also a great safety feature if you have little children.

Should You Buy a Foldable Machine?

Keep in mind that most elliptical exercise machines have a sizable footprint. Elliptical trainers that can be folded and stored in the closet are great if you're short on space, but a folding design will probably not be as sturdy as a non-folding model.

Read what fitness experts and actual users have to say about a particular machine before spending your money. Check with non-profit testing and reviewing organizations such as Consumer Reports Online. Two other sources of consumer reviews on elliptical exercise machines are ConsumerSearch and Epinions. Finally, talk to friends who are into exercising and see which machine they recommend. After all, word-of-mouth is the best form of advertising.

What Is The Very Best Exercise Machine?

So you've decided to start a fitness program, and you want to know what the best exercise machine is? I bet you've done some research on the web, and you're more confused now than when you started!

That's because almost everyone who's selling exercise machines and other fitness equipment is going to tell you theirs is the best, and they will probably have studies, research or testimonials to back them up. And if the product is being sold on TV, they'll probably dazzle you with the bodies of fitness models, both male and female, using their equipment. But you do know these people had these physiques before they ever set eyes on that particular piece of equipment, right?

If you're going to try and find yourself the perfect exercise machine, you have to ask yourself a few questions first, the main one being "what do I want from this equipment?". And you need to be specific. None of this "I want to lose weight", or "I want to get in shape" stuff. Nope, you need to hone in on the goal - "I want to have a 28 inch waist", or "I want to gain fifteen pounds of muscle and lose twenty pounds of fat". Then you can make some educated decisions.

Another question you need to ask yourself is whether you want an aerobic training machine or a piece of strength training equipment. If you really want to get in shape, you should be doing both - but that doesn't mean you need to buy two separate machines. More on that later. Among aerobic machines, you'll find the treadmill, elliptical machine, stepper or stairclimber, rowing machines, recumbent exercise bikes, spinning bikes and more. Strength training machines include multi-gyms, power racks, half racks, smith machines, and separate machines that concentrate on just about every individual muscle group in your body.

How many of these machines do you need? None, really. If you have the funds and the space for them, then they can make exercise more convenient. But you can get a great strength training workout with a bench and some dumbbells and/or a bar and weight plates. If for some reason, you can't swing that - not a problem. You can do bodyweight exercises such as pushups, dips, pullups, situps, crunches etc. You might think these are too easy to build any real strength or muscle, but there are ways to make them hard enough for even the strongest person. We don't have room to go into that here, but do a little research on the web for bodyweight exercises. You might be surprised at what you find. When it comes to your aerobic workout, you can jog, run, walk briskly, jump rope, do jumping jacks, or create your own interval workout from conditioning exercises like the crab walk, bear walk, walking lunge, jumping jacks, etc. Do a few sets of those without stopping and see whether or not it gets your heart rate up! Once again, if you don't know what these exercises are, just do a web search.

But I want an exercise machine! Ok, if you say so. When the elliptical trainer first became popular about ten years ago, there were some studies showing that you could get a better workout on that machine than if you invested the same amount of effort on the treadmill. Level of perceived exertion, they call it. But then some other studies seemed to show that it was really the treadmill that allowed you to get equal benefits while feeling like you were cruising a little bit. So where am I going with all this contradictory research? Well, the truth of the matter is that this research doesn't really matter that much to you. Or to me. Because if I hate to sit on a bike seat, it doesn't matter if a study comes out tomorrow saying that the exercise bike provides a workout ten times better than any other piece of aerobic equipment. If I'm not going to sit on that seat, I'd be stupid to go out and buy a bike. Actually, I own a spinning bike and love it, so that wasn't a very realistic example, but I think you get the point :-)

Experiment to see what works for you. Try a spinning class. Try jogging in the park. Try pushups and pullups, or a power rack, or bench presses. Hop on the elliptical at the gym, or find a friend who has one. Try them all to see what you like, and then build a balanced strength and aerobic program from those options. That's what'll keep you exercising consistently, and doing it consistently is the main key to getting the results that you want.

The Best Ab Exercise Machine

Flat abdominals represent the most common fitness goal, and most individuals will try to use every possible tool to improve results.

An ab exercise machine can help you reach your goals, but only when you know how to select it! When you make the right choice, an ab exercise machine may be your best option when trimming that waist and making an impact on those abs. Using such a machine can help you tone those difficult areas which you may be unable to target with conventional abdominal exercises. The most common problem with traditional ab exercises like sit-ups or leg lifts is the likelihood of injury or poor technique.

With each repetition, you may overdo it, or do it the wrong way and hurt yourself. With an ab exercise machine, you target the abdominal muscles and minimize accessory muscle contraction, which means you can get results faster and with less effort. Most machines like these are specifically designed to provide the maximum amount of resistance to specific areas in your abdominal muscles. The result is complete muscle stimulation, which means more muscle fibers are stimulated and called into action with each repetition of the abdominal exercise. It's like going full throttle with abdominal exercise training.

The abdominal muscles are more than the 'aesthetic center' of the body. They represent the structural foundation of your torso and spine, and are part of the 'core' muscles. These muscles act as stabilizers and serve to protect your spinal cord and support your torso. As you can already see, the importance of these mechanisms are critical in your daily routine and your overall physical health.

I highly recommend an ab exercise machine and several other pieces of exercise equipment, and have done extensive research to help you make your decision. As I mentioned before, the right ab exercise machine will help you make necessary adjustments in your technique so you can make correct movements while doing the exercise.

As with any exercise routine, you need to start slow. Doing hundreds and hundreds of sit-ups is not the solution to firm and flat abdominals. Remember to train smart, not hard. The machine you buy for your abdominals is almost like an assistant, since it will help maximize your exercise efforts.

There are a lot of machines available in the market, starting with the ab roller. The best way for you to decide the one that's right for you is to try it on and determine how comfortable it feels, if it causes strain on your neck, and if you feel the burn in your abdominals.

For best results, practise 10-15 repetitions to begin with and complete 2 sets. With practise, increase the number of repetitions of abdominal exercises to 25-30 in each set and upto 3 sets. More is not necessarily better, because an ab exercise machine is all about quality training, and not quantity training.

Don't wait any further, do some more research, and try out abdominal exercise machines that work for you. It is time for you to target those hard to get areas and start building the body you've already dreamed of.

A Complete Guide To Elliptical Exercise Machines

Elliptical exercise machines, also popularly known as elliptical trainers, first made a splash in the world of fitness as a staple on the gym scene in the mid-nineties. Elliptical exercise equipment was available in upscale sport and health clubs. Personal trainers, researchers, and surgeons have long hailed the health benefits associated with ellipticals. Elliptical trainers enjoy a substantial following among athletes. The non-impact feature of Elliptical exercise machines is a top selling point to users with recent injuries, chronic knee problems, and the overweight. Older people are also frequent Elliptical consumers.

Elliptical exercise machines feature adjustable resistance through a friction belt, or magnetic resistance systems, or electro-magnetic devices. Elliptical exercise machines propelled by the legs. Some trainer models handle-levers attached to the pedals to alleviate some of the pressure on the arms. The Elliptical user takes hold of the handles, below the height of the shoulder, and pushes or pulls the bars (depending on the model) while simultaneously shuffling the feet.

Elliptical exercise machines are often found at local sporting goods stores. Trainers can hold up to two hundred to two hundred and fifty pounds. Elliptical exercise machines retail for upwards of one thousand dollars. Specialty Elliptical exercise machines are able to carry up to four hundred pounds-these machines are priced at approximately four thousand dollars.

Elliptical trainers are used to burn off calories and create movement in the heart and muscles. Users are allowed to work up a sweat and burn a similar number of calories similar to the process of jogging. One of the central goals of Elliptical exercise machines is building up the heart rate. Elliptical exercise machine are often used to stimulate walking and running.

Fitness researchers conduct studies on different brands of elliptical fitness equipment. Researchers conclude that trainers, most of which are characteristically quiet, do not apply a lot of pressure on the joints. Elliptical fitness equipment is low impact-the foot never leaves the pedal. A fact attributed with lowering the risk of impact injuries. Most elliptical fitness equipment strengthens the upper and lower body, although some trainers offer just lower body exercise.

Similar to Elliptical exercise machines, treadmills vary in uses. Treadmill were created for walking, jogging, and running, while Ellipticals foster a particular interest in the heart. Both Ellipticals and treadmills influence burning calories.

Useless Gym Exercise Machines

Whether you're debating joining a gym, or are experienced, there are certain useless gym exercise machines that deserve your attention. Our society has become machine-driven. Generally, machines save time and produce desired results.

However, correct exercise involves the whole body. Machines aren't capable of "thinking" holistically.

It will serve your best interests and avert serious injuries to stop depending upon useless gym exercise machines.

Elliptical Machine

A 2008 issue of "Men's Health" cautions to distrust the elliptical machine because it reflects an inaccurate number of calories burned by about 1/3.

For example: the person, who believes to have worked-off 600 calories, actually burned about 400 calories. This serves to encourage a weight loss plateau, leaving the user puzzled about "why".

Although this machine is touted to be helpful for people with bad knees, the truth is, when one does intervals on the elliptical machine, it promotes hyper extension of the knee.

However, it is human nature to choose the easy workout. Cheaper and better alternatives that focus on intervals are bike riding, running in place or jumping jacks.

Leg Extension Machine

Frank G. Shellock, Ph.D. studied patients who had dislocated patellas (kneecap) to determine benefits of leg extensions vs.single-leg squats. The study concluded: Patella displacement more prominent when doing leg extensions vs. single-leg squats.

When doing single-leg squats, the femur (thigh bone) rotated underneath the patella, as opposed to rotating on the patella with leg extensions.

If you're experiencing a burning sensation and/or soreness in knees, consider the single-leg squat instead of using the leg extension machine.

Our humanness comes into play again, believing that "more is better". When working on a leg extension machine, less is better. Performing them explosively may be at the expense of your knee cartilage.

Abs Machine

The abs machine is yet another useless, and potentially dangerous, gym exercise machine. Given, this machine is likely less stressful than sit-ups or crunches if you sustained a previous back injury. The question is - why would one want to do crunches or sit-ups considering the potential of neck and back pain?

Further, continued use poses an injury risk to your spine. For correct stabilization of the spine, one should preserve a straight-line position from hips to shoulders. Plank stabilization exercises and upper body twists will serve the ultimate goal of rock-hard abs, without being detrimental to health.

Pec Fly Machine

Men can get rather vain about their pecs. But, before using the pec fly machine, beware of certain health risks. The machine forces one into a position, which excludes the use of stabilizing muscles surrounding the shoulders. By forcing the shoulder joint into an unnatural position, one may tear their pecs and/or damage the rotator cuff muscles.

Rather than resorting to this gym exercise machine, perform various push-ups or other pushing/pulling exercises in equal amounts. It the person is hunchbacked, they should include more pulling than pushing exercise in the beginning.

Useless Gym Exercise Machines

Useless gym exercise machines perpetuate the eternal myth known as "spot reduction". Unfortunately, no single exercise will focus on a single muscle or body part. Ab machine exercises won't rid you of belly fat; thigh machine exercises won't miraculously manifest sexy legs.

Eat right and include a variety of correct exercises in your regime to keep fit.

Weight-Loss And Whole-Body Vibration Exercise Machines - Update 2011

This time of year we are bombarded with claims from companies offering pills, programs, diets and meal plans that will make you slim. Many of these are misleading and recently the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) fined the marketers (Xenadrine EFX, One-A-Day WeightSmart, CortiSlim and TrimSpa) of four weight-loss pills $25 million for making false advertising claims including fast weight-loss and even cancer prevention. It is nice to see the government acting on and going after these fraudsters.

Who is Using Vibration Machines?

For the past few years I have been reporting my findings on vibration exercise machines and gathering more research. I have now worked with and talked to many people that using vibration exercise fitness machines to get in shape and to lose weight. Like most, I was very skeptical when I was first introduced to the technology but the more I researched the science behind the more intrigued I got. I found that most professional sports teams in the USA were using vibration machines for one reason or another. Some for training, some for rehab/therapy and some for stretching and core workouts.

I also found that vibration exercise had been adopted by medical professionals such as physiotherapists, chiropractors and spinal therapy specialists. The interesting thing is that many of these professionals a few years ago laughed at whole-body vibration fitness as a real science and medical treatment. Now that they had become educated and experienced on vibration exercise machines their view had completely changed. I found this is a common evolution with most people and their experience with vibration machines.

Benefits of Vibration Plate Fitness

So how can vibration do so much good for us? The basics are very simple and I found that once I had used the machine just once, I understood how it worked. When you exercise you contract and stretch your muscles under force. This causes small tears in the muscle which then are repaired and rebuilt even stronger. The vibration machine exercise does exactly this but in much smaller movements, about 3mm to 10mm. Your muscles do not care how much they are moving as long as they are contracting and stretching under force. The result is not only the same but better. In one minute on a vibration machine you can get 1500 muscle contractions, compared to maybe 60 to 200 doing traditional exercise. This is how the whole-body vibration workout only takes 10 to 15 minutes.

Beyond the muscle workout there are many other benefits that are not so obvious starting with Weight-loss. A new study presented at the Congress on Obesity showed that vibration exercise fitness was up to 4 times as effective as traditional exercise with fat loss. 60 minutes of cardio versus 15 minutes of vibration exercise machine use and vibration fitness won? This surprised everybody and has created a shockwave around the globe. Not only did the vibration fitness group lose much more fat but they were able to keep it off even after stopping using vibration for 6 months. The cardio group all experienced the yo yo effect and gained back the weight they had lost. Somehow vibration exercise is able to reset the bodies "Weight Set-Point" which is key to long term weight-loss. This is a game changer in the weight-loss industry and Vibration Exercise has is becoming adopted into many weight-loss program now.

North America is currently experiencing an epidemic in Osteoporosis and the drug companies are having a hay day selling drugs to treat it. In reality the drugs have been proven to have very little benefits and are costing consumers hundreds of millions a year. Vibration Exercise machines build bone mass naturally and are very effective at preventing bone loss.

My Results

As for myself and my wife our results continue to be impressive. We have both lost more weight and continue to get stronger. Our energy levels are up and overall we really feel better. My experience has been so positive that I have got many of my friends to start using whole-body vibration and they have really benefited from it.

Vibration Exercise Machine Buyer Tips

The most common question I get is "what machine to buy" and the answer is depends on how much you want to spend. We have had a VibraSlim Europlate for a few years now and we love it. There are many other good brands out there though such as Power Plate, Turbosonic and Pila-vibe although they do cost considerably more.

Beware of the dozens of websites and stores selling Chinese made vibration machines. These machines are notorious for breaking down and trying to repair them is futile. The Chinese machines, like most things from china, are made to be disposable and not made to repaired easily even if you are able to find parts. I have heard many horror stories of $2000 machines breaking after a few months and ending up in the garbage.

Unless you buy from a reputable company like the ones I have mentioned you are gambling with you're your hard earned money. Many websites say they have service and warranties, but most of them are just selling machines and never providing any customer service. So beware!
