Anyone who is trying to get into shape or being working out will likely
be wondering about exercise machines, and ab exercise machines are
usually a part of the mix. If you have been looking around online,
you're probably scratching your head wondering what's the best machine
to buy.
That makes perfect sense, since the fitness industry is
teeming with people who want to sell their wares and pawn them off as
the best on the block, backing their claims with various
official-sounding studies. The television marketers are probably a bit
more in-your-face about it, hiring trim and attractive fitness models to
pose and use the machines, but the fact is that most of said models
were already in that great shape: they're models, after all.
When
you want to find the best exercise machine, you are going to take a
while to do it. You have to prepare to ask things like, "What are my
goals in buying this machine?" Be specific. Don't simply say that you
would like to be in shape, or that you want to "lose weight." Rather,
put a time stamp on it and be specific: "I want a 6-pack midsection by
summer," in which case you will want ab exercise machines. Or you could
make a goal such as putting on 10 pounds of muscle, and fitting into
your high school jeans or what have you, before picnic season.
Another
question you need to pose is: do you want to be focused on
bodybuilding, or do you want to concentrate on cardio? If you want to
"get into shape" as an overall goal, you will have to do both types, and
you don't need to buy two sorts of machines, either. To get into cardio
or aerobic exercise, you should consider treadmills, elliptical
machines, stair machines, or the various sorts of bikes (recumbent,
spinning, etc.). If you want more strength training or bodybuilding,
thind of free-weights or machine-assisted weight sets, like multi-gyms,
Smith machines, ab exercise machines, weight benches and the like -
there are machines targeting most muscle groups.
What should you
expect to buy when it comes to fitness equipment, then? You really don't
have to buy a single piece of fitness equipment. You can do so if you
have both money and space in your home, of course, you just don't have
to if you want to get into shape. A simple weight bench with some free
weights will do. You don't have to, of course, but it would be the most
cost-effective means. Otherwise, there are body weight exercises you can
do, like pull-ups, push-ups and that sort of thing. It really doesn't
matter how strong you are, they can be adapted for anyone. Try a web
search of "body weight exercises" for some ideas. If you want ideas for
cardio or aerobic exercise, then you should consider running, jogging,
jumping rope and these sorts of exercises. You should mix up your
exercises, mix up the sets/reps, keep your heart rate up. Again, a
simple internet search will help you come up with ideas.
Nonetheless,
buying ab exercise machines is still a great idea if you can afford
them. Around a decade ago, when the first elliptical machine came out
(Precor), they had plenty of research stating that the human body worked
more efficiently on the elliptical vs. the treadmill. The thinking had
to do with one's perceived level of exertion. Studies were conducted on
the heels of that announcement that seemed to suggest treadmills were
better at this sort of thing, since runners would experience a "high" of
sorts and could run farther. What's the moral of the story? Simply that
all the research in the world doesn't amount to a hill of beans given
human psychology. If you hate riding bikes, or running, then no matter
what the researchers say, you shouldn't buy spinning bikes or
treadmills, right? Naturally, if you loved bikes, then this point is
somewhat moot. It depends on your personal likes and dislikes. Spinning
classes are something you should try, or jogging -- try and see if you
like these exercise. You can try body weight exercises, free weight
exercises, and that sort of thing. Try out the ab exercise machines at
your gym or club. The point is to try a variety of things to see which
you like best, and then plan a workout around those exercises you do
enjoy, both cardio and strength training. Keep your head in the game, in
other words, and do what you love to do when it comes to exercise, this
way you will succeed in your endeavors.
